Then one day it just stopped working. Has anyone gotten the HP c flatbed scanner to work on Win Vista? Sorry didn’t mean to mislead anyone or give you false hopes of reviving an old flatbed scanner. TWAIN files are known to get left behind.

Doing a little digging around, I found reference to problems with scanners on systems that have “upgraded to XP. I’m not a Windoze tech, just a user who’s comfortable with drivers and how they install or not.

But when I reviewed the properties to confirm whether or not this was the fix I was disappointed to find that the compatibility setting was NOT at XP Servicepack2 but unchecked and gray’ed out. Let’s start from the simplest, most obvious and go from there. You may want to skip installing those programmes for now. Message 72 received at bugs.

Wed, 20 Apr No further changes may be made. Well after a couple hours of my HPC Scanjet working I decided to put things to rest and try it again tomorrow to see if I was just dreaming about sucessfully saving all of my scans of photos, magazine covers, etc. I’ll give that a shot.

I went back to a Last Known Good and uninstalled what parts of the software got installed. Could it be an IRQ prob? Send a report that this bug log contains spam.


How might I uninstall the Windows scanning software? Remember, not all scanners install the same way, USB or not, you should follow the installation instructions exactly. Maybe Microsoft made some changes to Vista?

I would suggest you uninstall the built in driver you got from XP and install the one from HP. But it’s still working!

And if you do, you will want to make sure those programmes get uninstalled in 5 above.
